An Esthetician Or A Dermatologist? Know Where To Go To Effectively Treat Your Acne

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:41 am

You have been consistently irritated by the acne on your face and no matter what you do they do not seem to go away. So you want to seek the assistance of a professional but you do not know whom to approach first, should you go to an esthetician or should you visit a dermatologist?

An Esthetician is different from a dermatologist. They offer different services. So it depends upon your need before you can decide whom to consult.

Ordinarily, Estheticians are those whom you go to for the performance of cosmetic procedures like the facials and the body treatments. They are trained to do these procedures and are often referred to as skin care therapists. Unlike a dermatologist, they are not medical doctors who have gained expertise in the field of skin care. So if your concern is mild acne and you just need assistance for getting the right skin care products, then you can go to an esthetician. If you are not suffering from any major breakouts or blackheads, you may request a skin care specialist to assist you in removing these blemishes from you face. If you have consulted a dermatologist and he has prescribed a facial that would provide relief from your problem, a regular visit to your skin care therapist is more than enough already.

Consulting a dermatologist is sensible when treatments over the counter have failed you. When you have been consistently getting treatments but your acne problem continues to worsen and if you are suffering from acne that are inflammatory, then you should really consider visiting a medical doctor. It is also about time that you get professional help when your skin care specialist has suggested that you should go to a doctor.

Sometimes it is up to you to determine where you should bring your concern. However, you should be keen on the treatments that are being offered to you so that your condition will not worsen.

Acne Nodules Treatment – The Proper Treatment For Nodular Acne

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:31 am

Anyone with the worst kind of acne is looking for an acne nodules treatment to get rid of the very scarring and painful breakouts on their face.  The biggest problem is that these people have been given the wrong information and are looking for ways to treat their skin in all the wrong places.

Often times we’ll here things like the P. acne bacteria is what causes acne to occur.  In a sense, this is correct.  The bacteria feed on excess oils produced by our sebaceous glands and multiply out of control, prompting a response of red and white blood cells to our skin, causing breakouts.  People with nodules are suffering the worst as their breakouts have grown out of control.

The problem with the typical view is it completely ignores the question of “What causes us to over produce this oil in the first place?”  Established medicine repeats time and again that there is no connection between diet and acne because while two people can eat the same diet, one will have acne and the other won’t leading the development of gels and creams as the only viable acne nodules treatment.

Conventional medicine completely ignores the fact that two people are different and will have different responses to stimuli.  While one person get’s acne, the other may just get sick a lot, or possibly experience multiple headaches throughout the day.  The fact is our diets have a lot to do with our acne and typically foods like dairy, red meat, white sugar, white bread and white rice are the worst aggravators of our acne breakouts.

A true acne nodules treatment will center around the face that our bodies are in disrepair.  Years and even decades of poor treatment has caused the healing properties of our bodies to fall behind and they are no longer able to keep up with the amount of toxins and excess hormones running rampant in our systems.

By following all aspects of living a healthy life, anyone is able to treat their acne nodules.  Aspects include eating a good diet, exercising, sleeping properly and having a positive mindset.  All of these combined are the only acne nodules treatment that has been proven time and time again to clear anyone and everyone of whatever type of acne they have.

Laser Acne Treatment – Advantages Of Over Natural Acne Remedies

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:15 am

Treatment for acne includes many procedures and convenient methods which are followed according to an individual’s interest. But it is noticed in a few cases where tablets, ointments and natural remedy left no improvement over the suffering of acne.

Although treatment which is successful for one can not be followed for the other as intensity of disease differ among individuals. Those who left with no results by using ointments and pills along with natural remedy are suggested to go for laser acne treatment.

Laser Acne treatment:

Though laser treatment has been in existence for quite some time, it is only recently with advances in new acne laser technology that people show more interest over the treatment process.

Results of laser treatment are very high when compared to medical prescription results. In laser acne treatment, the dermatologist passes a beam of laser rays over the affected skin to remove the dead cells of skin which results in resurfacing of skin by allowing development of new skin cells.

Laser also helps in reducing secretion of sebum from sebaceous gland as well as removes the scars and mars caused due to blemishes.

Side effects:

Individuals undergoing laser treatment experience no pain in the treatment process but after that, they may be 10 days of skin redness around the affected area. Some patients may also experienced swelling of the skin.

Patients with darker skin tone are not showing any desirable results as this alters their pigmentation. An experienced dermatologist practicing laser treatments for many years knows how to handle these side effects for effective treatment of individuals.

Cost of laser acne treatment

Cost of treatment differs depending on the severity and the type of laser treatment you choose. On rough estimate we can suggest $2000-$3000 of spending towards treatment is necessary.

Number of sessions for treatment is varied with severity of disease in individuals where results of treatment also varies form each individual to the other based on their intensity of suffering.

Acne – Vitamin A Uses & Side Effects

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:19 am

What is vitamin A? Vitamin A like the other vitamins, is beneficial for your health and your eyesight. It contains anti-oxidant properties, destroys free radicals in your system, and maintains youth.

How does vitamin A help to cure acne? Ironically, it is done literally through the side effects of vitamin A! The side effects of vitamin A are drying / peeling of the skin, that is why when you take retinoids (derivatives of vitamin A) orally / topically, the sebum (oil) on your face is dried up, its production is also reduced, thus preventing formation of acne due to excess oil piling up. Another main cause of acne is blocked sebaceous glands. Once the top skin layer begins peeling, the pores open up (can breathe). This also effectively cures acne.

Now for some simple term names to remember. Vitamin A itself is called retinol. Its derivatives are called retinoids. Just like in movies when you see pseudo-humans you call them humanoids, they are derived. Isotretinoin is the most famous retinoid, it being the ingredient that led to the formation of Accutane / Nimegen etc. Other derivatives are also quite popular namely, tretinoin, adapalene (Differin Gel), tazarotene.

Up till now you understand that the side effects of vitamin A is GOOD! However, there are also bad side effects! Excess use of it causes a huge number of side effects such as rosacea (redness), itch, acne breakouts, headaches, nausea, and more. The worst of them all is birth defects in pregnant women using vitamin A derivatives. Pregnant women should never use them.

The recommended dietary allowance of vitamin A per day for adult males and females is 3,000 IU/day. Importantly, the tolerable upper limit for an adult should not be more than 10,000 IU/day. There is really no reason to take vitamin A derivatives in high amounts because studies shown that small dosages work just as good!

A Few Common Myths About Acne

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:40 am

There are many urban legends out there surrounding acne. It probably has to do with the fact that acne has been around for many centuries and some myths are pretty old. Although some of them are quite funny, others could damage your skin in a way that it will not heal. It is important to apply the correct treatment for pimples for better results.

1st Myth – Bad hygiene is the cause of it. This is not right. Although good hygiene is always good, not practicing good hygiene won’t cause you to get pimples. You’ll get them depending on your hormones level and the level of your hormones depends on your age and life phase you are going through. That also explains why woman can get break outs during menopause and why pimples are so common among teenagers. The only truth in this myth is that good hygiene will reduce your chances for break outs.

2nd Myth – Certain foods can causes it. No amount of coffee, sugar, fat or chocolate will cause you acne. For the true causes of it see above. A poorly balanced diet will make your skin look less healthy, however, it cannot cause pimples. You could also get an allergic reaction to certain kinds of food, however, this has nothing to do with break outs. Just avoid this kind of food if that is the case.

3rd Myth – Stress causes acne. Again the same problem as before. You only get pimples if your skin produces more sebum (skin oil) that it can process. This sebum gets infected in your pores and you get all these red spots. Stress can make things worst, since it affects your health, but this is only a side-effect.

4th Myth – Acne scarring is not avoidable. The cause of scarring from pimples is damage to the same spot of the skin. Your skin can only heal to a specific level during a period of time. If the same spot gets scarred over and over again, it will leave a scar for life. Treat your acne properly to avoid it.

Now that a few of the myths about pimples and break outs have been debunked, you can move onto treating your acne properly.

Acne Information – Advice And Treatments

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:51 am

Acne can be caused by occupational factors, exposure to oils, tars and halogenated hydrocarbons. Also drugs such as corticosteroids (topical and systemic), progestogens, and anabolic steroids are a cause of acne. Acne can be very difficult to cope with. If left untreated or not treated properly, it can progress rapidly, moving from the face to the body and spreading over once healthy skin.

Acne can also be caused by environmental and genetic factors, but genetics seems to predominate. In one large twin study, for example, 81 percent of disease variance (that is, the difference from what would normally be expected) was attributed to genetic effects, and the remaining 19 percent to environmental factors.

Acne can be treated with prescription medicine, including Accutane. Some people view Accutane as a miracle cure; however, the drug has been linked to number of different side effects, ranging from dry mouth and nose bleeds to birth defects and depression.

Women are more likely to have shorter experiences of acne often caused by changes in hormones or by certain types of cosmetics. Although you may think that greasy cafeteria food or late-night chocolate snacks might be a cause of acne outbreaks, this is untrue because food is not responsible for acne outbreaks.

Stress can also affect the levels of androgens, resulting in further breakouts. One method for managing hormonal outbreaks is using oral contraceptives, specifically ortho tri-cyclens that are FDA approved for the treatment of acne.

Stress and bad cosmetics can also cause adult acne, stress causes oil glands to be over active and cosmetics that are bad can place bacteria in the pore. Stress can aggravate the condition, but everyday stress does not induce acne.

Oral retinoids (isotretinoin) are used to treat severe acne and can only be prescribed by a skin specialist (dermatologist). Treatment with isotretinoin generally lasts 5-7 months. Oral antibiotics aim to control the acne by halting bacterial growth and reducing inflammation. Common antibiotics used to treat acne include: tretracycline, minocycline, doxycycline, and lymecycline.

Scarring is more common in men because deep acne affects more men than women – and because men don’t seek a Doctors advice as often as women do.

Scarring is not only physical; acne may be a huge emotional stressor for adolescents who may withdraw, using the acne as an excuse to avoid difficult personal adjustments. Supportive counseling for patients and parents may be indicated in severe cases. Scarring is one of the worst things that may be even worse than the acne pimple itself as much epidermis skin is destroyed just as would be from a wound intrusion. Usually over the years it will improve.

Acne Scars – Micro-Dermabrasion?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:38 am

Micro-derm kits are now sold for all people who use them from dermatologist to general practitioners, from estheticians to home users, each kit has its use and each is of varying quality, which is reflected in price. The most recent addition is for t he home user, who has not medical training and has little money to spend on expensive visits to a dermatologist. These home kits are so common that they are often referred to as “lunch hour” treatments, not only because of their ease of use, but also the literally non-existent healing time.

Home micro-derm kits may contain aluminum oxide, lotions, a hand help sanding device, and abrasive creams, along with instructions on how to use each.

The hand sanding pad is used to apply and aggregate the abrasive, which in turn removes a fine layer of skin from the affected area. In more expensive kits a mechanical sanding device may be included, which does the same thing as the hand help pad, it is just easier to use.

My favorite home dermabrasion kit is manufactured and sold by Neutrogena. This kit is sold at most pharmacies and drug stores and it is intended for use by an untrained home user. The kit contains a mechanical applicator, an application sponge, and a abrasive cream. The instructions are very detailed and the kit is very effective in removing light acne scars as well as fine lines and wrinkles.

This kit has worked for me, that is why I have mentioned it by name, but that does not mean that you cannot find a equally effective store brand kit for a lower price if you look. I have used this successfully on myself, but you may not have the same results, I recommend you speak with a dermatologist before you use this on yourself.

Lemon Juice – An Effective Acne Scar Treatment?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:32 pm

Acne is not an uncommon affliction, it affects almost everyone during their childhood and some even well into their adult lives. The severity of acne varies for each individual in some cases it is very mild causing little or no scarring, in other cases it can be very severe causing lasting scars which the individual carries with them throughout their entire life. Fortunately, there are treatments to help you get rid of your acne scars, and this is the focus of this article.

Statistics indicate that nearly seven million Americans, between the ages of twelve and twenty-five, are affected with acne. So, it is my home that this article will reach just a few of these individuals to help them with the lasting impact of acne; scars. My personal preference for the treatment of acne scars is a natural treatment, you may have heard of it; lemon juice. Of course you have heard of lemon juice; but have you heard of it in the context of an treatment for acne scars? I first learned of its potential in treating scars about three years ago while researching options for the treatment of my own acne scars.

After considering many treatments, I settled with the cheapest, which was lemon juice; it cost me a grand total of seventy-nine cents. I followed the directions from the website from which I had first learned of this treatment. They included first acquiring prepackaged or fresh squeezed lemon juice. Next, store it in a refrigerated container, I used a kitchen dish. Each day for six weeks, the website recommended applying the lemon juice topically three times per day to the scared area of skin. I done this, and it almost completely removed my acne scars. I am not a doctor, so please consult with your doctor before using this treatment because it may not have the same effect on you as it did on me.
